Last Weekly Email
It’s our last weekly email of the year! Thanks so much for reading and goodbye from your current SU Officers who finish up on the 30th of June. Your new SU Officers start work on the 1st of July and we are here for you all summer. Just give us a shout if you need anything.
Today is our last hygiene bank drive of this year and donations can be dropped in to the SU office 10am-5pm. Please donate hygiene, personal care and household cleaning products to those in need if you can. More info HERE.
Freebie Friday Tomorrow
To mark the last day of exams tomorrow we have another freebie Friday in the SU office from 10am. There’ll be free tote bags, reusable coffee cups, Red Bull, folders, reusable masks and text books while stocks last! You can also get free condoms, pads/tampons and antigen tests from our reception desk – just ask! The Student Pantry will also be open at 3.30pm tomorrow Friday 6th May for their last day this semester.
Swifties Assemble! Join us at 8.30pm on Tuesday 10th of May for our Taylor Swift Club night at Sult. Tickets are just €3 and all proceeds go to the SU Charities. Get your tickets HERE.
Locker Clear Out Deadline Fri 13th May
Just a quick reminder that your locker must be cleared out and your key returned before 5pm Fri 13 May to the Students’ Union office. Please ensure that you leave the lock on the locker, we only require the key. Items left in lockers after this date will be dumped, recycled, or donated to charity.
Irish language campaigning network, An Dream Dearg, have planned a public rally – An Lá Dearg – to give voice to the widespread community demand for an Irish Language act in the north. We are organising a bus for students interested in taking part in An Lá Dearg Saturday 21 May. Depart NUI Galway: 8:30am Depart Belfast: 4:00pm (arrive in Galway approx 8pm). These need to be collected before 5pm Thurs 12th May. Unfortunately we can’t keep books for you over the summer. Any books which have not been collected by this date will be given away for free.

The SUSI student grants are now open for new applications for the 2022/23 academic year. Students hoping to attend full-time 3rd level education in 2022/2023 should submit an application as soon as possible HERE.
If you held a grant from SUSI in 2021/2022 and are continuing your studies on the same course in the 2022/2023 academic year, SUSI will be in contact with you by email to advise you to renew your grant application. You must renew your application for each year of your course.
Class of 2020 Conferring Update
NUIG will be holding another event on 14 June for those who didn’t receive an online graduation invite. Please note if you were invited to April 2022 celebrations you won’t be invited to this. Register HERE.

Thesis Boot Camp

Applications are open for the Galway International Arts Festival Visual Arts Internship Programme (VAIP) until 31st May. Volunteer at Galway International Arts Festival
The GIAF Volunteer Programme application form is now live HERE. There are many roles to choose from such as Big Top Steward, Theatre Ushers, Street Spectacle Stewards, Festival Garden Assistant, Ambassador and much more.
Exam Results
- Results: Undergrad results will be released 10th-15th June. Postgrad results will be released 20th-22nd June. More info HERE.
- Repeat Exams: August Repeat examination session will run from 2nd-12th August. The August Repeat Timetable release date is 12pm on the 8th of July. More info HERE.

5 Free Antigen Tests Per Week!
All NUIG students can get 5 free antigen tests per week from the SU Office upstairs in Áras na Mac Léinn 10am-5pm Mon-Fri. Tests are also available from the Socs Box, the Student Enquiry Centre and the UniCoV Office. NUIG student ID required.
We Stand with Ukraine | Slava Ukraini
Friendship Pins and Badges now on sale from the SU Office, SU Shop, Sult and Smokey’s Café. All proceeds will go to the IrelandforUkraine.ie appeal. This supports the work of Concern Worldwide, Irish Red Cross, UNICEF, Trócaire and The Community Foundation for Ireland.
