Big Yellow Thing Socks On Sale

Our Big Yellow Thing Charity socks are back on sale from the SU Website HERE and also from the SU Shop in the Library basement. They make a really handy present that you can put in the post! All proceeds from sock sales go to the SU Charities: Galway Rape Crisis Centre, Galway Autism Partnership and Helplink Mental Health.

 

Extra Study Space + Sitting Exams On Campus

There’s now 49 extra study spaces available to book in the Cairnes Building. You can also book study space in the Reading Room, the Library and the Bailey Allen Hall. Book your space HERE.

If you want to sit your exams on Campus you need to apply before TOMORROW Friday 7th May HERE

The Semester 2 exam session runs from Tues 18th May to Fri 4thJune 2021. Exam Timetables and more information is available here.

Blackboard Ally

Blackboard Ally is an excellent tool which NUIG students have at their disposal. It allows learning material to be converted to alternative file formats that best suit your needs. This can include converting your PowerPoint to an audio file, or converting notes into a simple HTML file for studying on your phone. Just click on the Blackboard Ally ‘A’ symbol next to any file and choose the format that works best for you. More info HERE

 

SUSI Grant Applications Open

SUSI applications are OPEN for new applicants and renewals. The priority closing date for new applications is the 8th of July. Remember if you already get the grant you still need to reapply each year. Visit https://susi.ie for info.

 

Open Scholarship Week 10th-14th May

NUIG in partnership with the Open Scholarship Community Galway will host the third ‘Open Scholarship Week’ (OSW2021) with the aim of showcasing the importance of research and education that is accessible to everyone. The event will take place online from 10–14 May 2021. It will be a week of exciting keynotes, panel discussions, workshops and the Open Scholarship Prize Competition. Registration is open HERE

The EDTL project interns have created advice for students by students in approaching their assessments online this year. The infographic contains advice around preparing for disruption, keeping organised and looking after yourself are key for success in online exams. Glassary – A Sustainably Initiative for NUI Galway Students

Are you an NUIG student who wants to live more sustainably?  Then donate your leftover household items this May through Glassary – a circular economy initiative aimed at reducing household waste! Donation boxes will be set-up at all accommodations in the coming weeks to collect stationary, cooking utensils, bedding – you name it! Mature Students Drop-In Clinics

Weekly drop-In Clinics are available for all Mature Students. Here you can discuss issues, challenges, ideas, suggestions, and much more.
