Meet Niamh McLoughlin Baudouin

Mature Students' Officer

Hi! My name is Niamh and I’m honoured to have been nominated Mature Students’ officer for 2025/2026. With a professional background in teaching in various countries worldwide, and two extended breaks to raise my young children, I am now embarking on a new pursuit to pivot my career into Human Resource Management. I truly believe that education is a lifelong pursuit, and hope to promote the idea that mature students are an asset to our university – contributing to a diverse and dynamic educational environment, fostering intergenerational learning, and bringing valuable real-life experiences into academic settings. It is so important for me, now more than ever, that I contribute to promoting a resilient, adaptable, and inclusive society.

Tar éis dom a bheith ag gabháil don mhúinteoireacht i dtíortha éagsúla ar fud an domhain, agus dhá shos fhada a ghlacadh le mo pháistí beaga a thógáil, tá mé ag tosú anois ar aistear nua le slí bhearta a dhéanamh dom féin sa Bhainistíocht Acmhainní Daonna. Creidim go láidir go maireann tóraíocht an léinn ar feadh an tsaoil, agus beidh mé ag iarraidh a chur ina luí ar dhaoine gur cuid thabhachtach den ollscoil iad na mic léinn lánfásta – daoine a chuireann le timpeallacht éagsúil agus dhinimiciúil oideachais, a chothaíonn foghlaim idirghlúine, agus a thugann a gcuid taithí luachmhaire chun an tsaoil acadúil. Tá sé iontach tábhachtach domsa, anois níos mó ná riamh, mo chion féin a dhéanamh le sochaí athléimneach, inoiriúnaithe agus ionchuimsitheach a chur chun cinn.

The Mature Students Officer:

1. Shall represent mature students on campus.
2. Shall promote their full involvement in the academic and social life of the
   university community.
3. Shall work with the other Students’ Union officers, clubs, societies and the
   University as a whole to promote the development and integration of mature
   students at the University of Galway.
