Meet Jillian Tierie

Mature Students' Officer

Hello, my name is Jillian Tierie, and I am looking forward to working with you as your Mature Students’ Officer this year. I’m from Galway and a second-year Commerce student. As a mature student, I understand the challenges and opportunities that come with returning to education. Last year, I served as Auditor of the Mature Student Society, helping to support students and encourage involvement in university life. I am committed to ensuring mature students feel represented, included, and supported, while working with the Students’ Union, clubs, societies, and the wider university community to strengthen connections and enhance student experiences.

Haigh, is mise Jillian Tierie, agus táim ag tnúth le bheith ag obair libh mar Oifigeach na Mac Léinn Lánfhásta i mbliana. Is mac léinn tráchtála as Gaillimh mé, atá sa dara bliain. Mar mhac léinn lánfhásta, tuigim idir na dúshláin agus na deiseanna a bhaineann le filleadh ar an oideachas. Anuraidh, bhí mé i mo reachtaire ar Chumann na Mac Léinn Lánfhásta, áit a ndearna mé mo chion féin le tacú le mic léinn agus le hiad a spreagadh chun páirt iomlán a ghlacadh i saol na hollscoile. Caithfidh mé dúthracht lena chinntiú go mbraitheann mic léinn lánfhásta go bhfuil ionadaíocht acu, go bhfuil áit dóibh san ollscoil agus go bhfuil tacaíocht acu. Oibreoidh mé as lámha a chéile le Comhaltas na Mac Léinn, le clubanna, le cumainn agus le pobal na hollscoile go ginearálta le naisc a neartú agus eispéiris na mac léinn a fheabhsú.
