Hygiene Bank Drive

Our next Hygiene Bank Drive takes place Tuesday 15th of February. We are looking for new, unused, in-date personal care and household cleaning essentials – including deodorant, shower gel, shampoo, make-up, nappies, toilet roll, laundry detergent and surface cleaner. If you use a particular item, chances are someone else needs it too. You can donate items at our collection points in the SU Office and the SU Shop. Help us to fight hygiene poverty.

 

USI Congress

USI Congress takes place 11-14 April in The Knightsbrook Hotel, Trim, Co. Meath. We are sending a delegation of students from NUIG to the event where you will be debating and setting issues of national student policy with Students’ Union members from all over Ireland. Priority for spaces at the event will go to Class Reps. Application form HERE. Please note you must be able to attend all 4 days of the in person event.

 

Speak Out

Speak Out is the NUIG anonymous online platform where you can report Bullying, Cyberbullying, Harassment, Discrimination, Hate Crime, Coercive Behaviour, Stalking, Assault, Sexual Harassment, Sexual Assault, and Rape. You can Speak Out HERE.

 

Mind Body Boost

Mind Body Boost is a FREE health and wellbeing programme, devised to help you manage your mental and physical health. The programme will contain free weekly health and wellbeing sessions, every Tuesday at 12.30pm on campus at NUIG for 6 weeks starting on the 15th of February. If you are interested in taking part, please complete the expression of interest form here. Please note places are limited and all sessions will take place in person. Transition to Employment

Transition to Employment is a series of workshops for students with a disability or mental health challenge where you can get support and advice as you prepare to leave university and progress in your career. Their next event is: Wednesday Feb 16th  1 – 2 PM Transition to Employment – AHEAD Disclosure Planning Workshop – Session 2 – Learn how and when to discuss your disability/mental health during the job hunting process.  These events aim at sharing information about supports to help you transition from your college life into the workforce.

 

The Student Ambassador Programme is accepting applicants

The Student Ambassador Programme is a casual part-time paid position which provides an opportunity for currently enrolled undergraduate and postgraduate students to represent NUI Galway and gain experience working alongside the Student Recruitment team, assisting with events across the Campus. Indian Consumers and Culture Project

NUIG students are doing a project on how culture affects consumer trends, and they are specifically focusing on Indian Consumers. They would like to talk to some Indian students about their experiences as consumers, and how culture affects consumption choices. Michael Mc Donagh Award for Irish Traveller Ally Excellence 

The Michael Mc Donagh Award for Irish Traveller Ally Excellence recognises the outstanding efforts of NUIG staff who have shown leadership in relation to the importance of Irish Traveller history and culture, the full participation of Irish Travellers in education and the advancement of Irish Traveller human rights. Students are invited to nominate a staff member for consideration for the inaugural Michael Mc Donagh Award. ASIAM – Ireland’s National Autistic Charity Survey

AsIAm is currently surveying Irish people who identify as being Autistic, to investigate their attitudes towards employment. Anyone who fills it in could win a €50 One For All Voucher. It should only take 2-5 minutes.

5 Free Antigen Tests Each Month!

All NUIG students can now get 5 free antigen tests per month. You can collect your tests and free face masks from the SU Office upstairs in Áras na Mac Léinn 10am-5pm Monday-Friday.
