Christmas Holiday Arrangements 2024

University of Galway semester 1 teaching and exams ends on Fri 20th Dec 2024.

Semester 2 Teaching starts on Mon 13th of Jan 2025

  • The Students’ Union Office will close 5pm Fri 20th Dec and reopen 11am Tues 7th Jan. Our reception desk will be open 11am-3pm Tues 7th-Fri 10th Jan and 10am-5pm Mon-Fri from Mon 13th Jan.
  • The SU Cloakroom will close at 7pm on Fri 20th Dec and reopen 9am Mon 13th Jan.
  • The SU Síbín will close at 7pm on Fri 20th Dec and reopen 9am Mon 13th Jan.
  • Sult will close Fri 20th Dec and reopen 8.30am Tues 7th Jan.
  • The SU Shop will close 5pm Fri 20th Dec and reopen Mon 6th Jan.
  • Smokey’s Café will close 5pm Fri 20th Dec and reopen Mon 6th Jan.
  • Spéir, the SU Student Pantry, will close on Fri 20th Dec and reopen Mon 13th Jan.
  • The James Hardiman Library will close at 5.30pm Fri 20th Dec and reopen 8.30am Thurs 2nd Jan.
  • The Reading Room will be open 07:00 – 02:30 throughout the Christmas period.
  • The Student Health Unit will close 4.30pm Fri 20th Dec and will reopen 9.15am Mon 6th Jan. For urgent/emergency medical issues during this time please go to their website for services which are available – please note there is a charge for these services.
  • Flirt FM are off FM and on Webstream only from Sun 15th Dec until Sun 12th Jan.
  • The Socsbox and the Hub Kitchen will be closed from Fri 20th Dec and reopen the second week of January.
  • The College Chapel (H91 N6Y6) will be open 1pm-6pm Monday-Friday throughout the Holidays. On both Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, there’ll be refreshments, board games and a movie will be played at 3pm.
  • The Multifaith Prayer Room is located at Corrib Village and is open from 9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday throughout the break. 
  • Áras na Mac Léinn will close on Fri 20th Dec and reopen Thurs 2nd Jan.
  • The security team will be on campus throughout the holiday period, and make sure to download the SafeZone app HERE if you haven’t done so already.
  • Togetherall offers a supportive online community, which you can access from the link HERE.
  • The Support Wheel HERE is a handy tool with lots of resources and supports, tailored to your needs
