Student Accommodation Bill Launch Today
The Union of Students in Ireland (USI) are today launching their Student Accommodation Bill which aims to protect students who are renting during the Covid-19 pandemic. Please take part in the campaign launch today by contacting your local representatives and making some noise on social media about the need for this bill to be passed. 5 A Day for Mental Health Workshops
We have teamed up with Jigsaw to bring you this free 1 hour workshop which aims to provide young adults, aged 17 – 25 in third level educational settings, with the strategies necessary to build and take care of their own mental health. The workshops take place 5.30pm-6.30pm Thurs 4th March or 5.30pm-6.30pm Mon 29th March via Zoom. More info and sign up here.
Traveller Ethnicity Day Monday 1st March
NUIG is hosting a day long series of online events this Monday 1st of March as part of Traveller Ethnicity Day. Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science Simon Harris, will officially launch the event and the Travellers in Higher Education: Building a Sense of Belonging documentary at 10am. The Student Achievement Awards Ireland is the annual opportunity for the student movement in Ireland to recognise the contribution of students to improving the experience of their fellow students, and to wider society. Keep Well, Study Well Week
NUIG Keep Well Study Well Week takes place 1st-5th of March with lots of great free events taking place. There’ll be daily Kingfisher classes, a forum on Surviving Your Sanity on Monday, a magician on Friday, a sleep workshop on Wednesday at 11am, an insight into the life of a female student athlete on Thursday, a wellness workshop on Thursday at 1pm and the NUIG Sport Strava Group will keep you moving (Search NUI Galway in Strava Clubs). Exploring young people’s experiences of the guidelines for physical distancing during COVID-19
This study is examining the barriers and facilitators to physical distancing as well as the psychosocial development of young people whilst adhering to physical distancing guidelines. Participants must be aged between 18-25 years. The study involves taking photos and attending a one-to-one interview with the researcher about the young person’s experiences of physical distancing (where their photos will be used as prompts). Irish Students’ Attitudes Towards Smoking and Social Smoking
This study is looking at Irish undergraduate students’ attitudes towards smoking and how this affects their social smoking habits. Should you choose to take part, you will be brought to a brief questionnaire which will take no more than 5 minutes of your time. Questionnaire link HERE

A Mixed-Methods Study to Investigate Irish University Students’ Experiences of Participation in Learning after Concussion.

Uplifting Youth challenges third level students to develop social entrepreneurial projects to enable disadvantaged youth, aged between 16 and 25 years, to enhance their employability and entrepreneurial skills. Seed Funding of up to €1,000 available as well as training and mentorship to progress your project.
