SU-2526-17
Council notes
That Students’ Union Council should have input into its own meetings and as such input as to who is invited to speak.
Council believes
Meetings should be interactive, engaging, and representative from the very start.
Council further believes
That much of the information presented by invited University speakers (e.g. administrative offices, services, or departments) is repetitive, could be circulated in advance of council via email.
Council mandates
That the Chairperson of Comhairle and the Education Officer, in consultation with the President, revise the standard agenda to include:
Guest speakers should only be invited with advance approval from Student Union Council, or following a call for suggestions from representatives.
Guest speaker slots should be used for new or time-sensitive issues, rather than routine or repeated administrative updates.
Where possible, information from guest speakers should be circulated in advance so meeting time can focus on discussion.
