Meet Raisul Sourav

Ethnic Minorities Officer

The Ethnic Minorities Officer represents students of ethnic minority on campus. They represent union members on various committees, provide support to students of ethnic minority and liaise with relevant societies. They organise relevant events and campaigns to highlight and address cultural diversity and to promote the cultural integration of students across campus.

Greetings, my fellow enthusiastic colleagues of the University of Galway! My name is RaisuL Sourav, and I am your Ethnic Minorities Officer for the Year of 2025-26. As a dedicated PhD student in law and a passionate human rights activist, I have been a vocal advocate for students’ rights including ethnic minority students for their equality, inclusion, dignity, physical wellbeing and mental health. I’m actively involved with several societies including Bangladesh Society and Postgraduate Society. I’m a class rep for PhDs at the Law School and received the ALIVE President’s Award for Student Volunteering. I’m really thrilled to represent the Ethnic Minority students and promote, defend and vindicate their rights at all levels of society. Let your voice be heard by the concerned stakeholders!

Mar mhac léinn tiomanta PhD sa dlí agus mar ghníomhaí díograiseach do chearta an duine, bím i gcónaí glórach maidir le cearta na mac léinn, lena n-áirítear mic léinn mhionlacha eithneacha chun comhionannas, ionchuimsitheacht, dínit, folláine fhisiceach agus mheabhrach a áirithiú dóibh go léir. Imrím ról gníomhach i roinnt cumann, ar a n-áirítear an Cumann Banglaidéise agus Cumann na nIarchéimithe. Is ionadaí ranga mé d’iarrthóirí PhD sa Scoil Dlí agus ghnóthaigh mé Duais ALIVE an Uachtaráin as Obair Dheonach Mac Léinn. Is cúis áthais dom bheith i m’ionadaí ar son an mac léinn ó Mhionlaigh Eitneacha, agus a gcuid ceart a chur chun cinn, a chosaint agus a dhaingniú ar gach leibhéal den tsochaí.
