The College Bar

The College Bar is the main social and entertainments venue on campus and offers students the best in DJ’s, live bands and big screen sport in a safe and friendly environment. It plays host to clubs, societies, class parties and charity events on a nightly basis and The College Bar’s years of experience with student events mean you will be able to get help and advice on your event from the experienced College Bar team. The College Bar is run for the students of NUI Galway and our purpose is to entertain and amuse you while offering you a safe and friendly place to socialise. We hope you have fun!

Sports and Entertainment

Entertaining students is what we do. You will be able to enjoy the best of Galway’s DJ on a regular basis and lots of big name bands. We also cater for student DJ’s and bands to help give them the break they need. Our biggest and most memorable parties generally happen after the faculty balls, after exams, before holidays and at class parties.

From September to April, we offer the best views of all the action including Champions League, Premiership, FA Cup, Magners and Heineken Cup, Internationals and 6 Nations qualifiers and every other minute of sport on offer. And when we say we have the best view, we mean two big screens visible from every part of the bar along with 2 plasma screens behind the bar and a sound system to further increase the atmosphere and tension.

Class Parties

We love to host class parties, after all where better way to party with your College mates than in the College Bar! We’ll look after entertainment, a bit of grub and a complimentary drink, call to Reception to book your party!

Clubs, Societies and Charity Events

If you’re looking for the perfect venue to hold an event, the College Bar offers everything you’ll need. With two rooms to choose from, 10 years of experience, an on campus location and the support to make sure your event is well publicised, the College Bar should be your first call when planning your group or charity event.

The Restaurant and Sandwich Bar

The College Bar has long been famed for its top quality food and many past and present students will quote the bar as having the best food on campus – tasty, wholesome and with generous portions. Carvery dinners will offer three or four daily choices with a vegetarian option too. The newly renovated sandwich bar offers freshly made sandwiches, wraps, baps, subs, pizzas, pastries and the College Bar’s famous homemade scones and muffins. There is also homemade soup of the days, hot option of the day, confectionery and a wide variety of speciality teas and coffees.
