What’s the Quad?
The Quadrangle is the big, fancy building on the way to the hospital. This is the original University, built between 1845 and 1849. It opened its doors to students in 1849 as Queen’s College, Galway.

Is it true that the President lives in the Quad?
No, but Martin J. Newell, who was President from 1960 to 1975, lived here for his term of office. However, in UCC and UCD, the President does live on campus.

In the University a quality education is what you are looking for. If something is not as good as it can be, don’t be afraid to stand up and do something about it. You deserve the best education that you can get. Talk to your Students’ Union officers or your Class Rep.
