Comhairle Notes

The importance of the T Fund for our transgender community on campus

Comhairle Recognises

Funding has been awarded to the T Fund through the HEA Mental Health Fund, awarded to Comhaltas na Mac Léinn, Ollscoil na Gaillimhe by University of Galway Student Services for a period of 3 years. It is imperative that the fund is spent appropriately and responsibly during said period so as to ensure that further funding is achievable.

Therefore, Comhairle Mandates

The Uachtarán of Comhaltas na Mac Léinn, Ollscoil na Gaillimhe, and the Vice President for Welfare and Equality of Comhaltas na Mac Léinn, Ollscoil na Gaillimhe shall continue to manage the T Fund into the future, assessing applications 2x a semester in the 25/26 academic year and the 26/27 academic year and lobbying student services for additional funding when needed. When needed, the Uachtarán and VP Welfare & Equality should also liaise with relevant groups on campus, such as Bród Soc (University of Galway LGBTQIA+ Society by any other name) and with the Gender and LGBT Officer of Comhaltas na Mac Léinn, Ollscoil na Gaillimhe to ensure system is satisfactory, and should others want to fundraise for the fund to allow that to happen also.

Comhairle Further Mandates

The Uachtarán of Comhaltas na Mac Léinn, Ollscoil na Gaillimhe, and the Vice President for Welfare and Equality of Comhaltas na Mac Léinn, Ollscoil na Gaillimhe 2024/2025 to create a handbook on the management and establishment of the T Fund to be passed on to incumbent officers.
