Our Sustainable Monday campaign is back this February. We have lots of tips, treats and prizes to help you become more sustainable over the month.

Small changes can make a big difference

  1. Get a reusable water bottle
  2. Join the SU Monthly Clean Up
  3. Buy dried goods with a long shelf life in bulk to reduce plastic waste
  4. Stop using products containing microbeads
  5. Carry a reusable shopping bag
  6. Reuse empty jars by filling them with handy snacks like fruit, nut and seed mixes.
  7. Use Beeswax wraps to cover food items instead of cling film
  8. Get a reusable cup and use it when you are out
  9. Reduce your food waste. Make a shopping list and a meal plan for each week. Only buy what you need and will use. Check use by dates when shopping
  10. Switch your plastic toothbrush for a bamboo one.
  11. Try Meat Free Monday. By going veggie just one day a week you can reduce your food chain emissions. Get your 75cent Vegan Sausage Rolls in Smokey’s Café and Sult each Monday in February with your SU card.
  12. Do a 2 Minute Beach Clean
  13. Say no to plastic straws and cutlery. Get your own reusable ones.
  14. Ditch Fast Fashion and shop second hand instead. Come to our Vintage Clothes Pop Up on Monday 28th of February outside the Arts Millennium Building
  15. Use silicone baking sheets and muffin cases to avoid excess waste
  16. Switch off electrical appliances and lights completely when they are not needed
  17. Avoid plastic packaged goods where possible
  18. Shop local and seasonal to reduce the impact of the food you eat
  19. Shorten your shower by just one minute a day to save 2,500 litres of water per year
  20. Walk, cycle or use public transport where possible
