Free Rapid HIV Testing

Sexual Health West will be hosting free rapid HIV testing at various locations in Galway this summer. The HIV testing gives a result in 1 minute and the test involves a simple finger prick. Email rapidtesting.booking.shw@gmail in complete confidence to book an appointment.

Cross Border Student Mobility Survey

Please complete this 5 minute survey looking at an all-Ireland approach to higher and further education access. Overall student mobility has declined in the last 10 years by 18%. In the North, from 2016 until 2019 enrolments from the South accounted for around 4% of the total student population. Students from the North make up less than 1% of the student population in colleges in the south. Take the survey HERE

 

LGBTI Youth Strategy 

The LGBTI+ Youth Landscape and Knowledge Gap Analysis Research Report is being launched via Zoom at 4pm on Monday 24th of May to share the findings of the project with the wider community. Africa Day

Galway groups have come together to celebrate Africa Day which falls on Tues 25th of May with some of the big online events will take place on Sat 29th of May. More info is available HERE.

 

Jigsaw Hike For Hope

Organised by Scout volunteers, Hike for Hope is a fundraising event that will take place between 12pm on Fri 28th May and midnight on Sun 30th May. This is a challenge organised by a group of Scout volunteers, seeking to mobilise communities across Ireland to come together to support youth mental health and spread hope. Anyone can take part as an individual, with family or create a challenge with friends. More info HERE

 

Big Yellow Thing Socks On Sale

Our Big Yellow Thing Charity socks are back on sale from the SU Website HERE and also from the SU Shop in the Library basement. They make a really handy present that you can put in the post! All proceeds from sock sales go to the SU Charities: Galway Rape Crisis Centre, Galway Autism Partnership and Helplink Mental Health.

 

Galway Pride Festival

If you want to get involved in Galway Pride Festival 9th-15th August they are looking for organisations and passionate individuals to take part. The festival theme is Hope and any submissions for events, community projects or show pieces should be sent to infogalwaypride@gmail.com

Managing Stress & Anxiety Workshops

These free workshops are run by Student Counselling & Wellbeing and will run throughout the exams. There’s no need to register – just click on the link to join and mind yourself. More info and links HERE

 

Mature Students Drop-In Clinics

Weekly drop-In Clinics are available for all Mature Students. Here you can discuss issues, challenges, ideas, suggestions, and much more.
