Students’ Union to Host Pink Training

University of Galway Students’ Union will be hosting the national Pink Training conference event this weekend. Pink Training is Europe’s largest LGBT+ Conference, which sees over 300 student delegates attend a weekend of residential training. The weekend will include talks, workshops and plenary sessions run by USI (the Union of Students in Ireland).

During the weekend the Students’ Union will also be hosting social events for Pink Training delegates including a spectacular live show of burlesque and cabaret by The Dirty Circus at Sult.

Students’ Union President Faye Ní Dhomhnaill said: “Pink Training is about all things LGBT+, as well as activism, mental health, campaigning, leadership, and the diversity of our community. We are so excited to be hosting Pink Training for the USI again this year in Galway. The weekend promotes inclusivity and is also a huge amount of fun -we are really looking forward to it.”

Students’ Union Vice President/Welfare and Equality Officer Chloe Anderson added: “We are very excited to have The Dirty Circus back on campus to entertain our Pink Training delegates. Performance through drag and burlesque is another way of breaking down barriers and promoting diversity which is a key message of Pink training and indeed the student movement.”

Comhaltas na Mac Léinn le bheith ina óstach ar an Traenáil Bhándearg

Beidh Comhaltas na Mac Léinn, Ollscoil na Gaillimhe ina óstach ar chomhdháil náisiúnta na Traenála Bándeirge an deireadh seachtaine beag seo. Is í an Traenáil Bhándearg an Chomhdháil LADT+ is mó san Eoraip, ina bhfreastalaíonn níos mó ná 300 toscaire mac léinn ar dheireadh seachtaine de thraenáil chónaithe. I measc na n-imeachtaí ag an deireadh seachtaine beidh cainteanna, ceardlanna agus seisiúin iomlánacha arna reáchtáil ag AMLÉ (Aontas na Mac Léinn in Éirinn).

Beidh Comhaltas na Mac Léinn ina óstach ar imeachtaí sóisialta do thoscairí na Traenála Bándeirge ag an deireadh seachtaine freisin, lena n-áirítear seó beo iontach burlesque agus cabaret le The Dirty Circus ag Sult.

Arsa Faye Ní Dhomhnaill, Uachtarán Chomhaltas na Mac Léinn: ‘Baineann an Traenáil Bhándearg le cúrsaí uile LADT+, chomh maith le gníomhaíochas, meabhairshláinte, feachtasaíocht, ceannaireacht, agus éagsúlacht ár bpobail. Tá ríméad orainn go bhfuil Traenáil Bhándearg AMLÉ á hóstáil againn arís i mbliana i nGaillimh. Cuireann an deireadh seachtaine seo an uilechuimsitheacht chun cinn agus is mór an spraoi é freisin – táimid ag súil go mór leis.’

Dúirt Chloe Anderson, Leasuachtarán de chuid an Chomhaltais/an tOifigeach Leasa agus Comhionannais: ‘Tá an-áthas orainn go mbeidh The Dirty Circus ar ais ar an gcampas chun siamsaíocht a chur ar fáil do thoscairí na Traenála Bándeirge. Is bealach eile é taibhiú draig agus burlesque chun bacainní a bhriseadh síos agus an éagsúlacht a chur chun cinn, agus is é sin an phríomhtheachtaireacht atá ag baint leis an Traenáil Bhándearg agus le gluaiseacht na mac léinn ar an iomlán.’
