Council Notes

Pálás, the resident and only arthouse cinema in Galway, is a cultural staple of Galway, and was a key factor in achieving the cities UNESCO City of Film designation. Its imminent closure would mean the loss of one of the only third spaces in Galway, and would significantly impact the arts students of University of Galway. It is an institution that has worked closely with various courses to house content specific film screenings and helps to provide opportunities for Galway film students to have their work showcased to the public. To see it closed would be to lose a space that is dedicated to the preservation of the city’s artistic foundation and would cease to allow students vital opportunities for screenings and networking.
