This project aims to develop a media platform for bringing Zoology research, education and science outreach initiatives at NUI Galway to a national and international audience.
It will build on the work of the successful Eco-Explorers Zoology volunteer outreach programme at the NUI Galway School of Natural Sciences, which provides workshops for primary and secondary schools on various topics related to ecology, zoology and biology. Eco-Explorers has reached out to 49 schools in the past 12 months, and via this new project will be able to engage with a much wider audience, creating a bridge between the community and NUI Galway students and academics. The project team, comprised of staff, students and student societies, plans to create short films featuring zoology seminars, research projects and the community outreach work of the Eco-Explorers initiative, and make the films available on free media platforms. Project Updates

We have designed a logo. We have filmed enough content for the majority of two episodes and bonus content (seminars etc.), including making stock footage of the animals. Hopefully, the first episode will be launched next month). This is getting very exciting!

We have filmed enough footage for the first episode, and two halves of the next two episodes,
Currently in the editing process of the first episode and writing scripts for the next two parts of filming.
Also arranging Eco-Explorers t-shirts to be used as uniform for future filming/events etc.

The poster is currently being made and we have 6 videos on our YouTube channel. We’re planning to do more interviews and filming during the summer after the exams.
