Nominations are now open to fill the two vacant SU Officer positions of Mature Students’ Officer and Postgraduate Taught Officer. Both of these positions are part time, unpaid, voluntary roles. All registered students are eligible to run for either of these positions. Both roles will run from Friday 3rd October 2025 until 30th of June 2026.

Officers are expected to attend a weekly SU Executive committee meeting, help out at events/campaigns, attend monthly Comhairle Chomhaltas na Mac Léinn meetings and training as required. The Postgraduate Taught Office will also attend the Postgraduate Class Rep meetings.

- Shall represent mature students on campus.
- Shall promote their full involvement in the academic and social life of the
university community. - Shall work with the other Students’ Union officers, clubs, societies and the
University as a whole to promote the development and integration of mature
students at the University of Galway.
Here’s more information about the duties of the Postgraduate Taught Officer and only registered Postgraduate students may vote in this election.
- Shall be the officer primarily responsible for developing Union Policy on
postgraduate taught affairs. - Shall represent the interests of Postgraduate Taught and Postgraduate
Research students. - Shall promote postgraduate involvement in the academic and social life of the
University community and the university. - Shall work primarily in conjunction with the Postgraduate Research Officer
and the Vice President / Education Officer to promote and vindicate the rights
of Postgraduate students.
