1pm-2pm  ‘Pornography; the good, the bad and the ugly’ An interactive workshop, designed to enable participants to think critically about the messages portrayed in pornography in The View, Áras Na Mac Léinn. Lunch will be provided.

5pm-7pm Smart Consent Workshop (Females) in room 65 Ground Floor, School of Psychology, Arts Millennium Building Extension. 

8pm The Dirty Circus – Comedy, Burlesque, Cabaret and Sauciness in the College Bar. FREE event. Prizes for best dressed. NUI Galway student ID required.

1pm-3pm Smart Consent Workshop (Males) in room 65 Ground Floor, School of Psychology, Arts Millennium Building Extension.

6pm-7pm ‘Asking For It’ – Book Club Session. Readings and discussion on the award winning novel ‘Asking For It’ by Louise O’Neill, exploring the complex issue of sexual consent. Attendees are not required to have read the book. Meeting Room 1 Áras na Mac Léinn. Food and refreshments will be provided.

8pm Lit & Deb discussion “Should Sexual Consent be incorporated into the University Curriculum?” Kirwan Theatre

NUI Galway Students’ Union Charity Aquathon 2016 is CANCELLED. We will be contacting those that have registered for the event already to make alternative arrangements.

NUI Galway Students’ Union Charity Croagh Patrick Climb 2016

On Saturday 5th March the NUI Galway Students’ Union Charity Croagh Patrick Climb will be taking place in association with NUI Galway Mountaineering Club.

The event will be raising money for Galway Rape Crisis Centre & the Irish Cancer Society the Students’ Union nominated charities for 2015/16. Croagh Patrick is situated near the town of Westport, Co. Mayo and rises to a height of 762m above sea level.

To take part you need to fill out a registration form and return same to the Students’ Union Office. We will then give you a sponsorship card.

Participants need to raise a minimum of €40 to take part in the event and this will include return bus and a free t-shirt.

All funds raised must be returned to the Students’ Union office by 5pm on Wednesday 2nd of March.

Provisional Event Timetable:

9.30am SHARP Bus leaves from the Quad

11am Bus Arrives at Croagh Patrick. Final Briefing.

11.30am Climb Begins

1.30pm Lunch break and photos at the top of Croagh Patrick

2pm Descent Begins

4pm Bus leaves Croagh Patrick

5.30pm approx. Bus arrives at the Quad

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING

Before you can board the bus you must have all of the following items:

Walking boots (with ankle support!) PLEASE NOTE: Runners, hiking shoes, shoes and Doc Martens are not permitted as they provide no grip or ankle support.

Trousers (not Jeans)

Rucksack/Bag Waterproofs (no Ponchos)

Hats and Gloves

Food and Drink (at least 1.5 litres of drinking water/fluids)

Spare Clothing and Shoes

NUI Galway Students’ Union SHAG Week Comedy Hypnotist Michael McCoy

Following his sold out semester 1 gig we are delighted to announce that hilarious hypnotist Michael McCoy is back at 8pm on Monday 8th February in the O’Flaherty Theatre.

This is part of our SHAG Week 2016 events so this show is not for the easily offended – you have been warned!

Tickets are just €5 and will be on sale from the SU Office and the SU Engineering Desk.

NUI Galway Students’ Union Sexual Health Awareness and Guidance Week 2016 runs from Monday 8th February to Friday 12th February.
